Plato was one of the foremost authorities on philosophy and his reputation as a thinker was world renowned. Here's six, but by no way an exhaustive list of lessons he gave us:
- Honesty is for the most part less profitable than dishonesty
- I shall assume that your silence gives consent
- We do not learn; and what we call learning is only a process of recollection
- Courage is knowing what not to fear
- Any man may easily do harm, but not every man can do good to another
- A good decision is based on knowledge and not on numbers
